Maybe we can convince the Gajim community to accept translations from Transifex.net? =)

It's an online translation website? That could be nice yes, but I see no activity since the creation 7 months ago, and if I understand correctly, you cannot translate online, just download the po file, and eventually submit it?
If that's the case, I don't see the benefit. We can already get po file from hg.gajim.org.

Actually you can, you just need first to register/login to your account and then get translator rights from the person that registered Gajim at TF.
It's a nice tool, because one could use both methods -- downloading and submitting a po file and also online translation through the website. IMO Transifex is better than for instance Launchpad, at least from a translator's POV.

Ha ok. I'm not against the fact that translators use that, from developer POV, that doesn't change anything, but I don't think we can rely on developers to go there often and check new translations. So I think translators should still send the translations to the list once it's finished, from transifex or not.
Any better idea to use this tool?

Transifex can be set up to submit translations directly to the VCS of the specific project. In fact that is the best feature of the system as I see it, and that is what makes it different from things like Launchpad. You get submitting to the source tree _and_ the ability to use web interface for translating, when you're in need of one.

I'm not affiliated to TF, I just like the idea. With a proper setup of rights and accesses Transifex can be totally transparent to both programmers and translators.
And also it is free software and could be made distrubuted. http://trac.transifex.org/ You can for instance host you own version of the Transifex software although for a single project I don't think it's worthy.
So I think translators should still send the translations to the list once it's finished, from transifex or not.
Well if you stick with this workflow, then I guess you won't need Transifex. Transifex could make the process smoother and a bit faster but if you require each time sending files to the list it all could easily become more a burden than a convenience.
Hallöchen!

Just for the record: Launchpad can do this, too, if the project's branch is hosted there.
Tschö, Torsten.

that's interesting, indeed. But that also mean we have no control on what is commited. Currently for languages where there are several translators, there is a "master" translator that validate the translation before commit. Maybe that's not so usefull, and we could trust this website ...
