Indicating about old messages
by Илья Валеев 15 May '16

Hello! I'm have unexpected behaviour of Gajim. When I turn computer to sleep mode and connect to XMPP server next day, Gajim notify me about /old/ messages (blink in tray and task bar). It shows old messages from contact from previous day, added them to end of chat window (and displays that they was received one day ago). No new record in history appears. restore_lines=0 restore_timeout=0 I can not find any more related options. Is it bug and I should create issue or is it expected behaviour? Am I right that this is Gajim functionality? If it expected behaviour, can you tell me how to disable it? Thanks for the logs. Could you show me the FT request? You completly removed them from the logs (line 16, 59, 131, 224) Except from that, I think I understand the problems (there are 2) in Gajim code and I'll look at fixing that ASAP. Thanks for the feedback.

Cannot always send files
by Alex Malmyguine 21 Apr '16

When the files start sending, I get the following programming error on the sending side: Traceback (most recent call last): File "c:\python27\lib\site-packages\nbxmpp\dispatcher_nb.py", line 497, in dispatch File "src\common\protocol\bytestream.py", line 774, in IBBIqHandler TypeError: handle_event_file_error() takes exactly 3 arguments (1 given) Then it leaves the files locked and cannot access them again (shows the error message to that effect). Have to close/restart Gajim. Sometimes sending works. But not every time. Alex

File transfers succeed on the sender's machine, but fail on the recipient's
by Alex Malmyguine 21 Apr '16

Tried sending several files from a Linux Gajim 0.16.5 to a Win7 Gajim 0.16.5. This never worked over the internet, but this time both machines are on the same LAN. Gajim connects via XMPP to Ignite OpenFire server with file transfers enabled. It took a very long time (1-2 min) for the send file dialogue to appear after dropping the files onto the recipient's roster entry. Then it took a very long time with high CPU load for the transfers to start. They went from 0 to 100% in reasonable time for their size and link speed and were marked as completed on the sender's machine. But the recipient never got the files, they failed with the error message stating that sender cancelled the file transfers. What am I doing wrong and is there any troubleshooting that I should follow? Thank you Alex

message starting with / interpreted as path on filesystem
by Thomas Keller 18 Apr '16

18 Apr '16

Hello good gajim dev folks, whenever I write a message starting with /, gajim thinks I am referring to a file on my filesystem, and tells me: bin/true: Command does not exist Try using the //bin/true or /say /bin/true construct if you intended to send it as a text. This is severly interferring with my workflow, I am unable to cut and paste text containing file paths. Can you please advice how I can disable this "feature" before it drives me insane ? thanks an regards, Thomas

Scrollable status menu on Windows
by Alex Malmyguine 18 Apr '16

Good morning! Quite often the status menu under the roster only shows the last item - Offine - and the rest of the menu is blank. Then if I point at the scroll button that looks like ^ then the rest of the menu slides (or scrolls) up. Is that absolutely necessary for the menu to be scrollable versus conventional static pop-up menu? That seems to only add this extra effort of sliding up the menu just to change status. Thank you! Alex
